Pat Vipond, Master Director, announces her retirement!

Orangeville Chorus
has been blessed for almost
35 years with an amazing Director, Pat Vipond.
Pat was the Director when the chorus formed in 1979 and has brought the chorus forward to two first-place wins in the AA division in Region 16 and obtained the prestigious title of Master Director in 2009 along with her Co-Director Joan Borden.

After more than thirty-five wonderful years, Pat is moving on. She is retiring from front-line directing once the chorus competes in the annual Region 16 contest in May 2014. Although Pat is retiring as Director, the chorus will continue to be blessed with her presence on the risers—each chorus member will benefit from her warmth, love and true dedication to the craft of barbershop singing.

Some of the highlights of Pat’s career as our Director:
  • Founding member
  • Charter member – assisted in obtaining a charter for the chorus in 1981
  • Coached various Sweet Adelines Region 16 choruses and many quartets within the chorus
  • Served as a Director Coordinator on the Regional Management Team
  • Took the chorus to Paris to participate in an international choral festival
  • Obtained two first-place medals in AA division
  • Master Directorship, 2009
  • Took the chorus to SAI international competition in Denver, Colorado in 2012; fourth place obtained in the Harmony Classic competition
  • Directed a small chorus made up of Orangeville Chorus members called Daytimers
  • Provided many opportunities for the chorus to participate in community events i.e., Olympic torch run, tsunami relief concert, to name just a few
  • Partnership with the arts and musical community has allowed for musical collaboration with a multitude of community artisans at special community events
As well as directing the chorus, Pat has participated in many quartets as a round, resonant baritone. Her most recent quartet, It Takes Thyme, will continue to be a part of her newest Sweet Adeline adventure.

We wish Pat to know how much we have appreciated all that she has provided for our chorus. Her love, dedication, knowledge, fun-loving spirit, mentorship and true care for each member will continue to be admired, respected and cherished.

So to Pat, our “Maker of Possibilities”, we wish you well and want you to know
that we will be pleased to have you amongst us as a fellow riser mate.
We will honour you through wonderful singing, good friendship and
by always remembering to “Dwell in Possibilities!"
